Iceland Tour - September 2024. This trip will be limited to 34 customers.
Your Iceland Tour begins today when you join Glenn’s Motorcoach Tours. You will be transported by deluxe motorcoach to the MSP Airport. We will have an overnight non- stop flight from MSP to Reykjavik, Iceland.
Welcome to Iceland. Our guide will meet us at the airport. You will experience your first Ice- land breakfast after we check into our hotel - Fosshotel Reykjavik. The rest of the day will be on your own to rest or tour around downtown Reykjavik. Lunch and dinner on your own. Tonight, we will have a Northern Lights Cruise tour included.
Thingvellir-Geysir-Gullfoss. After your breakfast (included) we will visit the Aurora Reykjavik Northern Lights Centre. Here you will get an introduction to the Northern Lights and tips to capture Northern Lights. We then travel to Thingvellir National Park, where the world’s oldest parliament met for centuries. You may have the rare chance to walk between two continents! We will visit the town of Laugarvatn, which is built around three hot springs. Visit the geothermal bakery, where you will taste some of the freshly baked bread from the hot ground. Then onto the geothermal fields of Geysir, where you will find bubbling mud pools and the high-sprouting Strokkur hot spring. We will visit the two-tiered Gullfoss waterfall. Before we head to our included dinner, we will stop in Skalholt - Iceland’s capital during the Middle Ages. We will be staying in Hella, Iceland at the Stracta Hotel.
LAVA Centre-South Shore Waterfalls-Black Sand Beach. Breakfast included this morning. We will drive along the South Shore. We will tour the LAVA Centre, see the exhibits and a film about the Icelandic volcanoes. We will see the Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls. We will pass by the Myrdalsjokull Glacier as we head to visit Reynisfjara Beach. You will be able to walk the black sand beach with rock formations lining the Atlantic Ocean. We will cross Eldhraun, a lava field created back in the 18th century, as we head to Kirkjubaejarklaustur, Iceland for our two night stay at the Fosshotel Nupar. Dinner is included.
Vatnajokull National Park-Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon. Breakfast included. Today, you will be in a world of glaciers! We will visit the southern area of Vatnajokull National Park, Europe’s largest glacier - covers 14% of Iceland. Then onto Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, here you see icebergs floating in the 591 ft deep glacial lagoon. Nearby, is Diamond Beach, where the shrinking icebergs settle on the black sand before drifting to sea. You’ll see a few more glacial sites before arriving back to the hotel. Dinner is included.
Hverageroi-Blue Lagoon-Reykjavik. Breakfast included. As we head back along the South Coast, we will visit the village of Hverageroi - called “The Flower Village” in the middle of a geothermal area. Their flower greenhouses are heated by the hot springs. We follow alongside the shoreline. We will travel through the Reykjanes peninsula, where you will experience the world famous, Blue Lagoon, in the middle of a black lava field. We must say good-bye to our guide at the hotel when we arrive back in Reykjavik for our two night stay. Dinner and evening on your own.
Saga Circle. Breakfast included. We will discover West Iceland today, where some of Iceland’s best known Saga took place. We will visit the interactive Icelandic Settlement Center in Borgarnes and see how Vikings made their perilous boat journeys to Iceland. Plus see how they lived on this volcanic island. Then onto Reykholt, the home of Snorri Sturluson, the most significant chieftain, poet and historian of the Middle Ages. We will travel further inland to view the Hraunfossar and Barnafossar waterfalls. The last stop is Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring. We will return to the hotel in Reykjavik in the afternoon. A farewell dinner is included at a local restaurant.
Reykjavik-Keflavik Airport-Home. Breakfast included. After check out, we will depart for the Keflavik Airport, for our evening non-stop flight back home after enjoying this breathtaking tour to Iceland.
